THE EVOLUTION OF SENIOR LIVING
A Tale of Two Perspectives
In 2021, the senior care industry was in the throes of a pandemic-induced crisis, grappling with a workforce that appeared on the brink of exodus. KARE and Bear Wise Consulting released "A Tale of Two Perspectives," a groundbreaking study that exposed a critical disconnect between what benefits and employer attributes caregivers valued versus what operators thought they valued.
Four years later, the senior living landscape has shifted. KARE re-administered the same survey to a large cohort of the careforce (CNAs, LPNs, RNs) (N=3,527) and senior living community leaders (N=467) to track the evolution of this relationship.
This longitudinal analysis compares four key areas:- Motivators & Demotivators: What actually drives retention vs. turnover?
- The Culture Valuation: What is the exchange rate between culture and cash?
- External Threats: Is the industry still afraid of Amazon?
- Retention Outlook: Are we facing a shortage or a stabilization?
